Our most conservative approach. You invest with the selected market index when a buy signal is given. You hold your long position until a sell signal is issued at which time you move out of the market and into the safety of a money market account.

Long and short

With this strategy, you are invested in the market whether it increases or decreases. If a buy signal is given, you will go long the market. When a sell signal is issued, you will short the market. Shorting the market means you expect that the market will decline. In this way you can make money whether the maket is going up or down.

What to trade:

Using index tracking mutual funds is a good way to implement the strategies. Fund families that offer index tracking funds that allow you to go both long or short various indexes are Profunds and the Rydex Funds.
